Role: Concept Development, Creative Direction, Asset Sourcing & Manipulation, Cross‑Departmental Production Lead
For this sermon series centered on 1 Corinthians, our teaching team initially surfaced the provocative idea of “Christians Gone Wild.” While the thematic tension was compelling, it leaned too closely toward a secular and potentially distracting tone. During an early creative session with our external creative consultant, he proposed the direction of the metaphor of “lipstick on a pig”—a visual way to express how the Corinthian church attempted to dress up unhealthy behaviors. That evolved into the larger concept of “sophisticated animals” living outwardly polished but inwardly unchanged lives.
The consultant drafted the script, while I worked alongside him to refine the visual language and humor, contributing details such as Latinized animal names inspired by the whimsical style of Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox.
I took oversight of the visual development, sourcing and curating all stock illustrations, manipulating and compositing them to fit our vintage‑storybook aesthetic. Once visuals and script were locked, the consultant and I collaborated with a contracted motion‑graphics animator to bring the assets to life. I oversaw production across teams—teaching, worship, creative, and external—ensuring continuity of tone, brand, and theological clarity.
